Bangalore Realtor Association of India Condemns the False and Misleading Article of Hindustan Times
In a Detailed Emailed Released to the Press Mr NA Afzal President Bangalore Realtors Association India (BRAI) slammed the National Newspaper which falsely accused the Realtors in Inflating Real Estate Prices across the Country

Here is the Detailed Presser Released by BRAI
From the Desk of the President – Bangalore Realtors Association India (BRAI)
Subject: Response to Recent Media Narrative on Brokers Inflating Real Estate Prices
Recently, an article published by Hindustan Times titled
“Is Bengaluru’s Resale Real Estate Market Being Overpriced by Brokers?”
Raised concerns based on an isolated online anecdote suggesting brokers are responsible for inflated property pricing in the city.
As the President of BRAI (Bangalore Realtors Association India), I believe it is important to set the record straight and advocate for a more balanced and informed perspective.

🛑 One Story ≠ An Entire Industry
While we acknowledge that isolated instances of malpractice may exist—like in any industry—it is unfair to paint the entire broking community with the same brush. The anecdote cited in the article may reflect the behavior of a few unregulated, unregistered individuals, not the broader, RERA-registered, ethics-bound professional community that BRAI represents.
🛡️ There Is a System in Place
Let’s be clear:
✔️ All real estate professionals are now required to be RERA-registered.
✔️ Organizations like BRAI and NAR-India comprise members who uphold transparency, compliance, and ethical practices.
✔️ Our members undergo regular training and comply with documentation norms, dispute redressal mechanisms, and professional codes of conduct.
📢 Our Message to Buyers and Sellers
If you’re looking to buy or sell property:
✅ Work only with RERA-registered agents.
✅ Prefer professionals who are members of BRAI or NAR-India.
✅ Ask for complete documentation: carpet area, clear title, OC, approvals, RERA number, etc.
✅ Don’t fall for FOMO or rely solely on online listings—do your due diligence.
✅ Remember: a qualified broker is your partner in value, not just a middleman.
⚖️ Media Must Help Build Awareness, Not Distrust
Rather than casting doubt over an entire profession, we urge respected publications to use their voice to:
🔹 Educate consumers
🔹 Highlight the value of licensed professionals
🔹 Promote ethical practices
🔹 Help build trust in a regulated ecosystem
On behalf of all ethical practitioners in Bengaluru, we invite media platforms to collaborate with institutions like BRAI in creating awareness—not confusion.
Let’s guide citizens toward informed real estate decisions, not blanket distrust.
Warm regards,
N A Afzal
President
Bangalore Realtors Association India (BRAI)

In an Emailed Statement to Prop Headlines Mr Mohammed Sufiyan Ahmed Chairman, Youth Wing – Bangalore Realtors Association India said that As someone active in the real estate industry, I want to clarify that this is not true. Brokers do not decide the price of a property; the owners do. Most sellers set their price based on what they see on online portals or in news reports, which can sometimes show inflated or unrealistic rates.
Our job as brokers is not to increase prices, but to help both buyers and sellers reach a fair, win-win deal. In fact, we often advise sellers to lower their expectations to match the market reality. It’s not right to judge all brokers based on one viral story. Many of us work hard every day to bring honesty, clarity, and transparency into the property market. Let’s focus on solutions, not blame.
